Wyatt's Wildlife Biology class took a field trip to Antelope Island, UT Wednesday or Thursday of last week. He came back amazed. They saw Norther Harrier hawks, a Great Horned Owl, a Barn Owl, a Burrowing Owl, Antelope, Buffalo, Jack Rabbits, and more. We were looking for something to do this afternoon so we drove out to the island, and Wyatt took us where he had been, and we saw much of what he had seen a few days earlier. I never associated the island with a wildlife reserve, but it is that and more.

Jason leaves in a few days for two years in Tx. He wanted to get out and shoot before he left.
After leaving this spot we found a few antelope on a hill. Jason attached my 300/2.8 with 2.0tc
and, with his 20D, was soon grabbing shots of an antelope with a 960mm equivalent lens. He
shot with my 70/200 before we reached this hill top vantage point.
The Wasatch Front, as seen from Antelope Island.
Last bit of rabbit brush still in bloom. The rest on the island is dried out and brown.
Jason, getting a shot of his mom and maybe Chase and/or Wyatt.
Jason on Antelope Island, with a receding Salt Lake shoreline and the Wasatch range behind him.
SP/silhouette on Antelope Island, looking north.
Wyatt, Chase, Tammy and Susan on the island with the Wasatch range across Salt Lake to the SE.
Young Bison working its way to the "squeeze shoot" where it gets a vaccine, it's weight measured, and if it's staying on the island, a tracking chip in its ear.
